The Same Corner, a New Chapter
There’s been a market on this corner of 21st Avenue since the 1950s — maybe earlier — and for most of that time it was called Lincoln Market. The sign changed a few times over the years, but the corner didn’t. Jeff spent years working behind this counter before he took the keys, and one of the first things he did as owner was bring the original name back. Same corner, its real name.
Most of the year, the lunch rush comes from Lincoln High down the street. The first summer under new ownership, Jeff kept the doors open for the neighborhood anyway — and people started popping in who hadn’t been by in years. They’d tell us they came here as kids. That it’s the cleanest they’ve ever seen it. That the sandwiches are better than they remembered. That’s the whole idea: a real counter, sandwiches made when you order them, and a hello that means it.
The awning out front was hand-painted by a local artist, the logo on both sides, through a stretch of the Sunset’s famously moody weather. We hope it stays up for years. A short walk from Golden Gate Park, we’re here for the regulars who call the Parkside home and everyone passing through — looking after the neighborhood the way a corner store should.
